THE ONE-TWO PUNCH (Cont'd) Punch One… In celebration of my first salon coloring experience, I told Todd just to “go for it” do whatever he felt would look the best! For the record, I didn’t want the soccer mom “do”, I wanted what Heather refers to as the “WOW” factor. I was a bit nervous when he pulled out the pumpkin and purple dye, (might be a little too much WOW) but he calmed my fears and told me to trust him. OK Todd, apparently after 20 years in the business you’ve earned the right to be trusted! So, with that I sat back for the next 3 hours and let him do his magic. And man did he deliver!!! My hair is a GORGEOUS deep, rich chestnut brown with beautiful auburn and blond highlights – it’s amazing if I do say so myself. I truly love the way my hair color turned out – THANK YOU TODD for easing my fears and giving me such a fantastic cut and color. Next he took to the scissors. I’ve forever called my hair a “natural disaster” because its’ got this funky curl, wave, frizzy combo going on at all times. It just never looks good. First thing Todd did was take off about 3 inches so it ends just below my chin, a-la Katie Holmes-ish. The length and cut look great. But then he did something truly frightful – he cut bangs. I have not had bangs since 1983. Not because I don’t like them, I do. It’s because whenever my hair gets wet it curls up and I end up having calamari bangs – not a pretty sight. So, again Todd came to my hair rescue and promised to do a hair straightening treatment this Thursday. OK, so it’s back to the salon for another 3 hours pampering morning – and I can’t wait! Punch Two… She had prepped me well, not just with all of our previous treatments but with her descriptions of what’s going to happen to me every step of the way. So, I knew going in that my face would feel like it is being held together with see-through duck tape and then peel like a stubborn hard boiled egg when the shell slowly loosens. When she put the Jessner on, it hurt but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I anticipated. In fact, I think Kristen purposefully painted such a bleak picture that I was shocked to find that it wasn’t nearly as painful as I thought it would be and the burning part subsided pretty quickly. But that was just the beginning… The next day wasn’t too bad. My face was red and a little tight but it just looked like I had a bit of a sunburn (I guess I did only it was chemically induced). But by the end of the second day… whoahhh, watch out! My face tightened up like the shrink wrap on a box of Altoids, I could barely open my mouth or wiggle my nose – it was tight! It didn’t hurt per se, it was just uncomfortable. That lasted about a day and then the cracking and peeling part kicked in. It started around my mouth (which was a relief since I’m eating 6 meals a day) and continued around my checks, etc. I imagine it’s like puddle of water drying up from the center outward. First a little skin here, a little there and now I’m on day 4 and I’m mostly through the peeling process. I still look scccarrrryy, but the new skin is visible and everyone I’ve seen (which is not many people because I’ve been in hiding) has noted that the new skin looks like fine silk. I’m extremely pleased with what my torturer, uh I mean Kristen, did and I love the outcome. Be gone old skin, I can’t wait to see the overall results! THANK YOU KRISTEN for doing such a fantastic job with my extremely hyper pigmented skin and giving me a whole new fresh look, you’re amazing! My only regret about doing the one-two punch is that I now I have to wear a hat when I go outside to protect my new skin – it covers my cute new hair cut!
